Fika, a coffee and chocolates company from Sweden was poised to
grow from a local success into an international brand.
Brand Voice would play a key role in this transition, providing the gateway to the brand’s artisanal culture. More importantly, it would be the portal to a mindset predicated on creating “quality time” in an “always-on” world.
Guided by the mantra “FIKA is the break that breaks the grind”, my team developed a collection of names, stories, posts, and signs that provided metaphorical “off ramps” from the day-to-day hustle. The goal was to make Fika breaks synonymous with intentional, delightful interruptions worth savoring.

Verbal elements ranged from phrasal variations on “FIKA is a break with…”, to snappy commandments, brains teasers, and philosophical provocations. .
In combination, they prompted people to savor
unadulterated moments of quality time.
